Do you have a spare room or an unused space in your home that you don’t know what to do with?

If so, when you have a room that isn’t getting any use whatsoever, why not use your imagination and think outside the box to transform it into a space that you actually love?

For me personally, when I first moved into my previous four-bedroom home, there was a sitting room area off to the side of the entry way that I knew right off the bat would get no use.

So, I decided instead of using one of the upstairs bedrooms as my office space, I wanted to transform this space into my office.

Let’s be honest, “sitting rooms” don’t get much use nowadays and it’s basically a useless second living room which no one really wants or needs.

Some examples of other spaces that you might not get much use out of that you could think of transforming into a functional flex space is:

  • A formal dining room area
  • A large unused closet
  • An extra bedroom
  • An unused basement room
  • A mud room/entry area
  • Any random nook or cranny of your house that you are unsure what to do with

If you have any of the above and looking for inspiration, read on for the best unique and functional flex space ideas for you!
